Firewood

Burning Wood & Firewood

Buring wood and firewood is a sustainable, environmentally friendly fuel, which is derived from everyday woodland management and tree work.

We pride ourselves on the exceptional quality of our logs. Typically these are 85 - 90% ash and beech logs, with the remainder being made up of species such as birch, oak, cherry and maple. Occasionally fruitwood such as apple or pear may be available.

Our firewood logs are seasoned and barn stored, to ensure that it is of the highest quality and ready to burn.

Firewood & Kindling For Sale

We can deliver firewood logs and kindling to your door free of charge.

Logs are sold as:

  • Bagged logs (very convenient especially where space is at a premium)
  • Delivered by pick-up loads
  • Delivered by tractor or trailer loads

Log Quantities & Delivery

A load of logs from us is 0.9 cubic meters. Our standard log size is approximately 10 inches long and 5 inches round. We can, of course, supply custom-cut logs in sizes ranging from 6 inches to 42 inches.

We can deliver single, double or triple in pick-up loads or 5 loads using tractor and trailer. Deliveries will be tipped off at the point nearest to the logs destination, providing access is firm.

From October to March our delivery service is extremely busy and we ask for two weeks notice when ordering, please. Many of our customers have regular orders and, as with size, we can tailor orders to suit your needs. We are extremely flexible and confident that we can deliver what you want, when you want it.

To ensure you have good quality logs for the coming season we recommend you order in the summer months. This means the timber will season throughout the summer giving you increased heat output and possibly reduced consumption.

Storing Your Wood

For the most efficient storage of your wood please consider the following helpful guidelines.

  • It is best to stack your firewood outside where the air can circulate and best to store off-ground so it cannot absorb moisture. Pallets and treated fence posts make suitable foundations
  • Stack with bark side down otherwise the bark will act as a lid and stop the moisture from evaporating and the risk from mould will increase. Leave small gaps between the wood to allow air to circulate and then top the stack off with logs with bark side up, so they act as tiles to allow rainwater to run off. The more surface area which is exposed the more rapid the drying process
  • You can put some sort of water proof covering over the logs to stop the rain water permeating but do not cover the sides
  • Keep near to house so you do not have to go too far too fill your log basket
  • You can rotate your logs so you bring an amount indoors to gently warm and further still evaporate any moisture and after a couple of day then place them in the basket next to the fire, then refill you indoors store up and so on
